  • Our statewide transportation system was in crisis even before COVID-19. Inaction is a roadblock to recovery.
  • COVID-19 has exposed deep social and racial inequity. Transportation must be a path to opportunity.

Councilor Wu, advocates, and local and state allies have called for the state to adopt these policies:

  1. Call for MBTA to maintain rear-door boarding on buses with no fare collection
  2. Encourage the state legislature to pass means-tested MBTA fares system-wide
  3. Advocate for MBTA to commit to decriminalized proof of payment enforcement
  4. Call for MBTA to implement commuter rail fare equity to ease bus crowding
  5. Advocate for MBTA to commit to electrification and better bus facilities
