A ticket to ride: Paying for transportation

As American citizens, we believe that we deserve a world-class transportation system encompassing everything from pothole-free local streets to congestion-free interstate highways.  In Southeastern Massachusetts, we expect fast and efficient commuter rail service, bus service that is available during working and shopping hours, and no traffic slowdowns on Routes 24, 95 and 195.  All of these things are within our grasp, but are we willing to pay for them?
